The Archive & Library is open 10.00 - 16.30 Monday to Friday.
Admission is by appointment only.

Christmas closure dates: The Tank Museum will be closed on the Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

The Archive will also be closed on 27th & 28th December 2012.

Archive and Reference Library Banner


The Tank Museum's Archive & Reference Library is the world's foremost research centre on the subject of armoured warfare.

More specifically, the resources held are directly related to the Royal Armoured Corps, especially the Royal Tank Regiment. International in scope and with a world wide reputation, it is designated as a Place of Deposit for the National Archive.


Photographs.  Over a quarter of a million unique and historic photographs of combat vehicles, support equipment and personnel.







Family History.  Including personal records and diaries & Royal Armoured Corps discharge and casualty cards for World War Two.







Books.  Hundreds of books on armoured warfare and associated subjects, including Regimental histories & War diaries of virtually every regiment of the Royal Armoured Corps in WWII .







Documents & Handbooks.  Original tank plans & drawings, with related illustrations, Contemporary training documents and tactical manuals plus  documents relating to weapons & uniforms with field manuals and technical handbooks.
