| The Canadian Department
of Defence has very kindly supplied the Tank Museum
with two of their Leopard C2 main battle tanks,
both in good running order. |

| The C2
is described as the original Leopard 1A3 chassis
first supplied to Canada (as their Leopard C1) in
the summer of 1978, reworked with the newer 1A5
turret but fitted with the 105mm guns
from the original tanks, all linked up to modern
fire control systems. |

| The Canadian
Leopards are now in the process of being replaced
by the Stryker 105mm Mobile Gun System, probably
one of the first occasions in any of the world's
armies where a tracked Main Battle Tank has been
replaced by a wheeled vehicle. |
