No.: 7878624
Date of birth: 12th October 1908
Date of death: 4th July 1986

Harry Easdown was born in Chatham where he attended Chatham Marine School (as his father was in the Royal Marines at that time). He received a medal for regular attendance which is at the Royal Marine Museum, Southsea.

Harry started his army career in the Boys' Service aged 14, in 1922, at the Army Apprentice School, Chepstow. Throughout his career he would never pass up an opportunity to learn different skills - mechanic, electrician, etc. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant but declined to become an officer.

Harry spent a period of time in India (probably 1929-1934). On his return Harry was marred on 31st December 1935 and lived in Andover.

At the start of World War 2 Harry was in France and was evacuated at the time of Dunkirk.

He then took part in the North African campaign before travelling up through Italy.

After the war Harry worked at Ludgershall, ultimately as a Vehicle Examiner, until his retirement.
