Albert Williams

D.o.B.: 9th November 1887

Joined the Royal Engineers in 1914 doing fieldwork and construction. Posted to Winchester, Christchurch, Salisbury Plain and Bovington.
Transferred in 1917 to Upavon, on Salisbury Plain.
Spring 1918 joined the Tank Corps at Bovington. Went to France in August 1918 and took part in fighting around Querrieu Wood, first day of the battle of Amiens. Pte. Williams operated the gears in a gun carrying tank.
