Albert Winch was born on 13.7.1915 in Merstham Surrey.
He enlisted in the Territorial Army (4 years service) at the Drill Hall Sevenoaks (Argyle Rd) on 22.10.1930 at the age of 15 as a Boy Soldier. (At the time he was living at 50 Mill Lane, Sevenoaks, Kent). His Trade was noted as Gardener and marital status single. He was given army no. 6341529 in the 4th Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment. He went on to serve with the Royal Tank Corps/Royal Tank Regiment:
