When in command of his Squadron in vicinity of Beda Fomm on 6.2.1941, attacked and drove off enemy tanks outnumbering him by 4 to 1, and later in the same day attacked enemy columns on Benghazi-Agedabia Road in face of heavy artillery. Fire closing to close range and destroying lorries and gun crews by Machine Gun and 2-pdr fire.
