Tales of valour
LAKE Edward Walton, (Corporal)
4th Battalion Tank Corps
Throughout the action on August 8th 1918, he displayed great courage and determination.
When his tank became immobile on Croates trench (Hangard sector) he immediately manned a machine-gun in the open and harassed the enemy until the infantry came up and the trench was taken over by them.
Later at great personal risk, he entered a burning tank to get spare parts for his own tank, and only came out when quite overcome by smoke and fumes.
