For gallantry and devotion to duty. During the recent operations, especially at Feuchy Chapel on April 13th 1917, during a heavy gas-shell bombardment, this NCO showed great fearlessness and devotion to duty in the repair of tanks. On two occasions he has worked unceasingly for 48 hours in most difficult circumstances. His devotion to duty has greatly inspired the other men in his section.
