Tales of valour
MORGAN Archibald, (Private)
4th Battalion Tank Corps
For gallantry and devotion to duty throughout the operations August 8th-10th 1918.
On August 8th, he drove continuously for nineteen hours until the final objective was reached north of Caix. On August 9th and 10th, owing to the sickness of the spare drivers through gas fumes, he again drove continuously throughout operations near Beaufort, Warvillers and Rouvroy. On two occasions whilst unditching, he carried on his work on top of the tank under heavy machine-gun and rifle fire. He has always displayed exceptional keenness, and set a splendid example to the rest of the crew.
