Territorial Force War Medal 1914 - 1919

This medal, in bronze, was instituted in 1920 and was awarded to members of the Territorial Force and Territorial Force Nursing Service who saw four years service, including overseas, on or before Sept. 30th. , 1914, or who rejoined on or before this date, provided they did not qualify for the 1914 or 1914-15 Stars. Only 34,000 medals were awarded, making it the scarcest of World War 1 medals.

The obverse shows an effigy of King George V, the reverse a wreath enclosing the text 'FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICE OVERSEAS 1914-19'.

The ribbon is watered gold silk with a dark green stripe towards each edge.
