Atlantic Star 1939-1945
Issued mainly to the Royal and Merchant Navy personnel who served in the Battle of the Atlantic it was also given to some R.A.F. squadrons and to Army personnel who served on Armed Merchantmen such as R.A. gunners. The 1939 - 45 Star must have been granted before service counted towards this star.
A six pointed bronze star with the GRI/VI monogram in the circular centre, surmounted by a crown. Inscribed 'THE ATLANTIC STAR'.
The ribbon is watered silk of blue, white and green representing the ocean.
