Awarded for service in the Pacific theatre of operations 1941-1945 - including Malaya in 1941, Singapore before its' fall in February 1942 and Hong Kong prior to its' capture in September 1941, but not including Burma. Army personnel did not need a prior time qualification.
A six pointed bronze star with the GRI/VI monogram in the circular centre, surmounted by a crown. Inscribed 'THE PACIFIC STAR'.
The ribbon is dark green (the jungle) with a central yellow stripe (the beaches), narrow stripes of dark and light blue (Royal Navy and Air force) and wider stripes of red (Army) at the edges.
