France and Germany Star

This star was granted for service in France, Belgium, Holland or Germany between 6th June 1944 (D-Day) and the German surrender in May 1945. Prior award of the 1939 - 1945 Star was not a prerequisite. The only qualification necessary for Army personnel was the participation in any operation on land in any of the above countries.

A six pointed bronze star with the GRI/VI monogram in the circular centre, surmounted by a crown. Inscribed 'FRANCE AND GERMANY STAR'.

The ribbon is five equal stripes of blue, white, red, white and blue (the national colours of the United Kingdom, France and the Netherlands).
