United Nations Medal
Instituted in 1951 and awarded for various peacekeeping or supervisory roles since 1948. Other than the U.N. Korea and U.N.E.F. medals, this multi purpose award has been issued with various distinctive ribbons for services in the world's troubled areas. Multiple tours in the same area are indicated by the appropriate numeral worn on the ribbon. To date some fifty different issues have been made.
The obverse has the wreathed glob emblem of the United Nations surmounted by the letters 'UN' and the reverse is plain.
