It may be Half Term, but there will be double
the fun for all the family at The Tank Museum- as
The Big Draw comes to Bovington.
From the 23rd to the 27th of October, Museum
visitors will have the chance to explore their creativity
in a unique environment with a variety of activities
to suit all ages.
Interpretation & Learning Manager Kath Lynch
said; The Big Draw is a national initiative
to encourage everyone, no matter what their ability
or age, to get creative. Across the country
over 1000 venues and half a million people will be
taking part, and we are particularly keen to encourage
families to take part together here at The Museum.
As well as being fun, creativity is a great
way to help children learn. Here, they will be able
to take part in mask making activities, where they
can learn how humans have adapted camouflage from
the animal world for their own protection.
To help focus peoples imaginations, we
will be providing frames which people can use to find
themselves interesting subjects or capture a moment
in time and then draw whatever they have
chosen to `frame`.
There will also be the opportunity to make
your mark on a huge piece of artwork we will be
creating over the 5 days of The Big Draw. We will
be putting this on display, and we would love all
our visitors to make a contribution to it.
To fire the creative mind, the Museum is also running
a series of fascinating talks and activities to
bring the collection to life.
Expert Museum staff and Tank Veterans will be sharing
their knowledge and experiences; allowing visitors
a rare glimpse inside some of the Museums more interesting
vehicles.
There will also be live action tank displays
between the 20th and 27th of October (weekdays only).
