Talk To 'Tommy' At The Tank Museum!

The Tank Museum holds the world’s best collection of tanks, and this half term there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained and amazed - whatever the weather.

A number of special family activities have been planned for half term (18th-22nd February), and visitors will be able to climb in to some of the tanks and try on military uniforms from the 20th Century.

In Talk To A Tankie, visitors will be able to talk to tank veterans from the Korean War, and examine the equipment and vehicles they used to find out what life was like in the front line. The Museum’s Trench Experience will take visitors back in time to 1916, and a fully kitted 'Tommy' will be on hand to explain the harsh realities of trench warfare. There will also be free guided tours of the Museum, with a closer look at some of the Museums unique vehicles.

Museum spokesman Nik Wyness said; "A lot of work has been done within the Museum over the winter as part of our redevelopment project – and visitors will notice a number of new and refurbished tanks on display. Following our disrupted winter opening schedule I am please to announced that as of the 4th February we are again open daily, 9.00am to 5.00pm."

A vast number of the 250 tanks on display at Dorset’s largest Museum and indoor attraction have been repositioned in preparation for the installation of new exhibitions. Building work is now well advanced on the new display hall, which will be open to the public in another 12 months time
