| The
Tank Museum is to host a lecture on Thursday 26th May,
to mark the 200 year anniversary of the death Admiral
Lord Horatio Nelson at The Battle of Trafalgar. |
Captain Alec Morrice
CBE will be delivering a talk titled `Admiral
Lord Horatio Nelson - The Man`, which will look
beyond the battles that made him a Georgian imperial
legend, and examine the character and private
life of this tenacious and celebrated British hero.
Captain Morrice said; "Nelson scored a vital
and crushing defeat against the French Navy at the battle
of Trafalgar, which secured British control of the
seas for another hundred years.
"His naval record is well known, but his colourful
private life is perhaps less so. I will put Nelson
into a perspective that can be understood in term of
present day society and values, so people can understand
his motivations and have some idea why he was so
successful."
Captain Morrice left the Navy in 1992, and now lives
in Somerset.
The lecture will be on Thursday 26th May 2005
at The Tank Museum.
Tickets are £12, with free parking,
museum admission and buffet included.
Doors open at 18.30, lecture commences at 19.30.
