THE SPIRIT OF VE DAY AT THE TANK MUSEUM

The
British Red Cross are celebrating sixty years of peace
with a
VE Day themed dinner and Dance at The Tank Museum on
7th May 2005 |
British Red Cross Spokesperson,
Dr Isabel Smart said; "We are aiming to recreate
that feeling of excitement that gripped the nation in
1945, when the British learned that six long years
of war with Nazi Germany were over."
With The Jubilee Jazz Men performing the most
popular tunes of the roaring 40's, guests are invited
to dress in a style of 1945 - be it in uniform,
mufti, or something more elegant
Parachute silk
undergarments, perhaps, or something acquired from a
GI
Bubbly and canapés will be served as you
explore The Museum, before a four course meal is
served in the Museums vast Tamiya Hall.
"Whether you were there for the real thing, or
are grateful for having lived in peace all your life,
the stage is set for an authentic celebration of
peace and nostalgia", Dr Isabel added"
"There will be fantastic prizes on offer in
our charity auction, from Tank rides to foreign
holidays."
The two charities will be splitting the proceeds
of the events, and putting the funds towards there respective
education projects. |
