James Keith Jackson Acheson

RSM James Keith Jackson, 7880449, 6th Royal Tank Regiment

Born - 2nd July 1910 : Rock View, Lough Arrow, Ireland
Died - November 1974

The oldest of 11 children he served an apprenticeship from 1st July 1923 to 26th July 2926 as a watchmaker in Boyle. 25th September 1928, aged 18, he enlisted in Omagh into the Royal Tank Corps and was posted to Bovington. During 1934 to 1936 he passed the trade tests of Fitter, Driver Mechanic and Driver Operator for 6th Battalion Royal Tank Corps in Cairo and Salisbury. Ultimately promoted to W/WO1 (RSM) in 1946.

For many years Standard Bearer for the Birmingham Branch of the British Legion. Founder member of the Royal Tank Regiment Old Comrades' Association, Birmingham
