H.S. Breese

Citation for Distinguished Conduct Medal (medal lost)

On September 8th, 1918 near Marcel Cave, he drove his Tank with great determination and skill oer mot difficult ground through heavy fire to prevent it getting "ditched" and later, near Babovillers, he brought his Tank into position, whence his gunners were able to silence the fire of two field guns which had already disabled several other Tanks. He then ran over one of the guns and reached his objective. His courage, endurance, and devotion to duty in fighting and working his Tank for 36 hours under most trying circumstances were worthy of very high praise.
