Jerram MC RTC on the staff of DQMG BEF

This officer accompanied me to DUNKIRK as a Member of Staff. His work as a contact Officer took him as much as hourly into the docks, into the town, and on the beaches, he was invariably successful in every task that was given to him, and these tasks included such things as clearing a load that was being heavily bombed single handed of armoured vehicles, taking small loading convoys to the docks and guiding them out of there, traffic control liaison with Corps HQ and GHQ and a host of similar duties. He was at all times calm and behaved in a manner that was of the most value to all who came in contact with him.

On 10 Dec. 1940 near SIDI BARRAMI, Lt Col Jerram under heavy rifle and machine gun fire from nearby Italian trenches got out of his tank and cut a telephone wire controlling the guns of an Italian battery.

During 9 + 10 Dec 1940 at MIBEIWA, TUMMAR area near SIDI BARRAMI the work and leadership of Lt Col Jerram was an inspiration to his unit and to him is due the great part of the operation played by the 7 R Tank Regt.

His personal initiative near SIDI BARRAMI on 10 Dec largely influenced the battle in this locality.
