Tales of valour
TODD A, (Gunner)
“C” Battalion Tank Corps
On November 23rd 1917, during the attack on La Fontaine, when his tank was set on fire by a direct hit, this man showed the greatest pluck and coolness in helping to extinguish the fire. When he himself and five more of his crew were wounded, he ran 400 yards under intense machine-gun and artillery fire to obtain assistance from another tank, thereby saving the lives of his comrades.
