Royal Victorian Medal

Awarded to those below the rank of officer who perform personal services to the sovereign or to members of the Royal Family. Bars are awarded for further services. In 1983 the order for wearing this medal was altered to take precedence over campaign medals.

The obverse shows an effigy of the reigning monarch and the reverse has the royal cipher on an ornamental shield within a laurel wreath.

The ribbon is dark blue with borders of narrow red, white and red stripes. Foreign recipients have an additional central white stripe.
