India Medal 1895 - 1902

Sanctioned in 1896, this medal replaced the earlier 1854 Indian General Service Medal. Seven bars were issued and the medal was available in silver for combatants and bronze for native bearers and servants.

Issued with two different obverses portraying either Queen Victoria (1895-1901) or King Edward VII in field marshal's uniform (1901-1902). The reverse has a British and an Indian soldier supporting a standard.

The ribbon is crimson with two dark green stripes.
