Khedive's Star 1882-1891

This medal was conferred by Khedive Tewfik of Egypt to those who qualified for the Egypt Medal. It was struck by Jenkins of Birmingham.

It is a five pointed star with a circular centre showing the Sphinx and Pyramids surrounded by a band inscribed 'EGYPT' followed by a year round the top, with 'KHEDIVE OF EGYPT' and the year in the Moslem calendar in Arabic at the foot. The reverse has the Khedive's monogram surmounted by a crown. The star is suspended by a ring from an ornamental clasp in the centre of which is a star and crescent.

The ribbon is deep blue.
