Active Service Medal

Instituted in 2003 for British and Commonwealth Forces. This medal is produced for the benefit of SSAFA Forces help on the initiative of G.E. Harris. It is manufactured by Bigbury Mint Ltd. in gold plated bronze.

Obverse : Clothed in a robe and seated on a dais, a serviceman draws his sword ready for action. Alongside him is the dove of peace.

Reverse has a laurel wreath around the outside edge with blank space in the centre for engraving the recipient's details.

The ribbon has a central white stripe with wide red stripes to either side, both of which are bordered by narrow yellow/gold stripe.

A number of clasps are available for this medal, stating where the recipient has seen his/her active service.
