18th October 2019

The Tank Museum won three Gold Awards at last night’s Dorset Tourism Awards for:

  •        Tourism Event of the Year

  •         Large Visitor Attraction of the Year

  •        International Visitor Experience of the Year

The Tank Museum’s Director Richard Smith said “The tourism economy is very important for Dorset, generating a large level of income and jobs for the local area.

“Playing a part in this is fantastic and to be part of an event which celebrates the diversity of Dorset’s tourism is brilliant”.

The ceremony was presented by BBC Dorset’s Steve Harris, with guest speaker Simon Cripps, Chief Executive of the Dorset Wildlife Trust. With 146 entries received from across Dorset, the 7th Dorset Tourism Awards was a record breaker.

Robin Barker, who has led the awards throughout its development is delighted with progress.

Robin said “Tourism is a global industry and no-one can afford to stand still.

“It is so rewarding to see so many Dorset tourism business take on this challenge, investing so much in their businesses and in being the best. A huge congratulations to everyone”.
